Individuals Can Make a Difference
The United States consumes more energy per year than any other country, and most of it is derived from fossil fuel sources. By now most of us understand that we cannot hope to sustain that sort of frivolous lifestyle for long. We won’t be able to change these habits as a nation overnight, but we can make a serious difference on an individual basis by choosing to consume less energy and setting a good example for the others.
There are plenty of ways to improve energy efficiency in the average home, starting with lighting. It goes without saying that you should always turn off lights behind you in the house, especially if you won’t be returning to that room anytime soon. Adding a fluorescent light dimmer in the dining room can help you achieve restaurant-esque ambience while also saving electricity.
